Media Bias & Coverage

Western media constantly favors Israel while making us Palestinians look bad. This bias isn't accidental — it's systematic. It shapes public opinion to support policies that enable ongoing occupation and oppression.

When Israel bombs Gaza, headlines say "clashes erupted" or "violence flares" instead of telling the truth: "Israeli forces attacked Palestinians."

They call our resistance "terrorism," while Israel is always "defending itself." But this false balance hides the reality: we are the occupied — they are the occupiers.

"O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information, investigate, lest you harm a people out of ignorance and become, over what you have done, regretful." — Surah Al-Hujurat (49:6)

This verse reminds us to verify what we hear, especially when the powerful distort truth to serve their agenda.

Western media's language choices reveal deep bias:

  • Israelis are "murdered" or "slaughtered."
  • Palestinians simply "die" or "lose their lives."

Israeli violence is called a "response", but Palestinian resistance is immediately labeled "terrorism." This framing flips reality on its head — as if violence begins with us, and Israel only reacts. It erases 75+ years of occupation, blockade, and systemic oppression.

They humanize Israelis — with names, faces, families, and stories. Our dead are reduced to numbers without names. Even our children, killed by airstrikes, are often ignored in headlines.

"Whoever kills a person [unjustly]... it is as though he has killed all mankind. And whoever saves a life, it is as though he had saved all mankind." — Surah Al-Ma'idah (5:32)

Where is this equal value of life in Western reporting?

Most reports erase historical context: No mention of the Nakba, illegal settlements, occupation, or Gaza's blockade. Each outbreak is treated as an isolated event — as if Palestinians resist in a vacuum.

The media portrays this as a "conflict between equals" — ignoring that Israel is a nuclear-armed military power while Palestinians are stateless, blockaded, and defenseless.

Most major outlets employ more Israeli correspondents than Palestinians. This means stories reflect Israeli fears, not Palestinian suffering. Journalists who speak up are silenced with accusations of anti-Semitism — a cynical tactic used to shut down truth.

"And do not mix the truth with falsehood or conceal the truth while you know [it]." — Surah Al-Baqarah (2:42)

In response, Muslim media and independent voices have risen. They expose what mainstream outlets hide — Israeli crimes, Palestinian resistance, and the human stories from our land.

Social media is our frontline. We tell our stories, share our pain, and speak our truth directly to the world.

As Muslims, bearing witness to the truth (shahada) is not optional — it is faith. Even when the world tries to silence us, even when they erase our history, even when they mislabel our resistance — We speak. We remember. We resist.
